A rumor surfaced several days ago that Kurtzman had been fired from Star Trek
by Paramount and Skydance. At the time none of us could confirm this rumor,
which originated on a small website no one had ever heard of, discovered by
Midnight's Edge, but now I have a mountain of rumors about what's happening
behind the scenes at Paramount/Skydance in regards to Star Trek, and the
alleged status of Alex Kurtzman. Get ready folks - there be a ton of rumors
here! #startrek #paramountplus #paramountplus

He deserves to be fired, but I don’t want him to be fired because he
screwed up Star Trek so badly it can’t be saved and I don’t want him to
hurt another property. He’s in theory attached to Larry Niven RINGWORLD,
and if they deservedly kick him off Trek he’ll actually have room to spoil
that.

Accpording to the rumor, whoever hired Kurtzman hated Star Trek and set
conditions that Kurtzman cannot be fired and it's cheaper to produce
additional seasons of trek shows than to cancel them.

I wouldn’t believe that except I know for a fact there were equally bizarre
conditions surrounding Berman and Braga and they’re running of the Star
Trek franchise.

But that sounds so otherworldly that I am really having trouble wrapping
my mind around it. Like, what kind of a person does that? And at what age?
And how could it possibly be cheaper to produce failure Star Trek shows
than spend the same amount of money and make the "best you can"?

It's just really confusing to me, all this.

With very few exceptions, I can't watch this anymore, myself. I do like
the Lower Decks though, even though I am not a fan of some of the humour
within. The vibe and look at least resemble what I like.

Paramount has been known to make deals this stupid. For instance, Berman
and Braga had deals where they couldn’t be fired as long as Star Trek was
in production so they had to cancel Enterprise and other things. (rumor
says that included the Las Vegas experience) and have no Star Trek in
production for a while until the terms of the deal were met and they could
fire Berman and Braga and start up again to make the JJ movies. Otherwise,
Berman and Greg would’ve been in charge of those and they wanted rid of
them bad.

As I understand it, whoever was in charge at the time hated Trek and agreed
to the ridiculous conditions to sabotage it.
