'In a company for electronic devices, the head of security Dieter Meurer accidentally catches his young colleague Claudia Lorek taking photos of confidential documents after work, but does not show anything.

On the' next 'evening Claudia is to pass these documents in a restaurant to her liaison Bruno Schlosser who' works 'for state security of the GDR'.

Since the restaurant may be 'overbooked, West Berlin police senior commissioner Hans Georg Bülow and his office worker named Ms. Sonja are seated at the table with them.  Since Claudia and Schlosser pretend to be friends with Bülow and Sonja, she' tries to get 'Schlosser to leave the restaurant without them. Schlosser waits in front of the restaurant and follows her.

He urges Claudia to go to East Berlin with him to drive to her clients, which Claudia refuses.  Her boyfriend, the married Arnim Denzel, watches Claudia and Schlosser in front of the house and reacts jealously.'

After sleeping together, 'Claudia urges Arnim to leave his family and leave West Berlin with them.  She had to go urgently, otherwise she would be finished.  Arnim makes it clear to her that he cannot give up his microchip company, which is currently expanding and which is a supplier to the company in which Claudia works, and that he no longer needs to rely on Claudia to secretly send him orders.

Shortly afterwards, Arnim Denzel learns that the property he has bought from the Senate' for 'expansion, is contaminated with hazardous waste and needs expensive renovation.  The Senate bears the costs, but the renovation costs time because of the hazardous waste disposal' with cooperation between the FDR and 'the GDR, which Denzel does not have due to his assignment.

Dieter Meurer, meanwhile, makes it clear to Claudia that he had seen her spying on her the previous evening and is now blackmailing her into going to bed with him so that he does not reveal her. She apparently agrees.
Then, she meets with Schlosser and demands DM 100,000 from the Stasi so that she can go into hiding.  Schlosser agrees and they arrange the cash' exchange 'for the next day.

Arnim Denzel, who has agreed with his client to have more time to complete the assignment, is meanwhile arranging that the renovation work can be carried out in a third of the time.

In the evening Meurer tries to see Claudia, but she refuses him access to her apartment. Meurer increases the pressure on Claudia the next day.
In the meantime, Arnim has found that the renovation work is proceeding far too slowly to keep to his schedule.

Schlosser meets with Claudia at the Friedenstatue, in West Berlin's Unionsplatz, 'yet Schlosser didn't get the money for Claudia and wants her' to meet him at his office or just to 'come over the border to the GDR.  However, she refuses and insists that the money be handed over to her' later at her 'apartment.  Schlosser agrees to hand it over in the evening.'  Again, when they meet that 'evening,  Schlosser still doesn't have the money for Claudia, but wants to forcibly kidnap her to east Germany.  Meurer, who is chasing Claudia, intervenes.

After Schlosser seems to have backed down, Claudia leaves Meurer' locked out 'and drives away,' 'but Schlosser' re-appears and 'follows her.  Watched by Arnim's wife Gaby, who has suspected her because of the increased number of anonymous calls from Claudia, Claudia looks for her lover Arnim at his company late at night.  Gaby now knows that her husband is cheating on her.  Arnim finally breaks up with Claudia, but she demands DM100,000 DeutschMarks from him.  However, due to his current financial situation, he cannot pay her anything.  When she leaves the company, she is attacked by an unknown person.

Gaby Denzel, who is returning home in the meantime,' goes and gets 'her daughters' from a neighbor.'  'They ran out into the street and played during her absence.

'Arnim finds Claudia lifeless in front of his company.  While he is disposing of Claudia's body in the soil to be disposed of on his recently purchased property' 'he is being watched by his employee Paul Gerlitz.
'A stranger breaks into Claudia's apartment and steals evidence of her espionage activities.

The next morning, when the load with the contaminated earth was being removed,  Gerlitz, urged by his wife Anna, made an anonymous call to the police.'  Via a police bulletin, 'the truck' is able to 'be stopped and secured before the border.

Senior commissioner Bülow states that the fact that the corpse should be disposed of in this way significantly restricts the group of perpetrators, as only a few people knew about the disposal of toxic waste in the GDR.  In forensic medicine, Bülow and commissioner Öllerink learn that the woman was killed and the blow was instantly fatal.  Bülow recognizes Claudia as the woman from the restaurant, but he no longer knows her last name.

Meanwhile' during questioning, the truck driver Günter Bauschke tells police commissioner Leuschner that 'he had picked up the load from Arnim Denzel's company, he cannot provide any further information.  Due to traces of blood and' other ground indicators, 'the crime scene can be located in front of' 'Denzel's company and Denzel appears concerned and completely clueless.  Without knowing that his employee Paul Gerlitz was watching him and was the anonymous whistleblower, he reveals the name of his night watchman to the police.

During questioning, the excavator driver Klaus Sachse told the officials that Arnim was particularly nervous the day before.

Gerlitz, who initially acts unsuspecting, is confronted by Bülow with the recording of his call to the police, whereupon Gerlitz admits that he was the caller, he does not want to have recognized Arnim Denzel, but he admits that Denzel was visited by someone on the evening of the crime, his wife' was 'in the office and that Denzel had argued with her.

Meanwhile, Leuschner learns about her identity from Claudia's employer.  Claudia Lorek came from the east and was a migrant. In Claudia's apartment, the police find her suitcase prepared for a trip, as well as evidence that someone had searched the apartment before the officers.  The detectives also find a love letter from Arnim to Claudia.  Bülow and Leuschner temporarily arrest Arnim Denzel.  In Claudia's bank safe, the officials found securities worth a quarter of a million DeutschMarks.  They suspect that these were bribes for giving Arnim orders.  Claudia Lorek also made visits to East Berlin over sixty times a year.

Police board member Stegmüller congratulates Bülow on the solved case, but Bülow still has doubts.

Shortly afterwards while being questioned by Bülow, Gaby Denzel calmly tells Bülow that she didn't know' or even suspect 'anything about her husband's lover.  However, she must admit that she left the house for a short time.  In the evening, Sonja pointed out to Bülow that Claudia was with a man whom she wanted to get rid of with her help.

Denzel's lawyer' named 'Dr. Deyl informs Gaby Denzel that the client has withdrawn his order from her husband and that the bank has withdrawn the loan approval, so the bankruptcy of Arnim's company is inevitable.

Meanwhile'  for Bülow, 'Sonja visits Ms. Rente, Claudia's aunt, "privately" in East Berlin to ask her about Claudia.'  'Sonja pretends to be Claudia's friend, Ms. Rente says that Claudia only rarely came by and then gave her forty visit slips each time that she had to sign for Claudia.  When he hears of this, Bülow then suspects espionage for the East, since the company in which Claudia was employed also produces electronic devices for armaments. '

'Dr. Deyl informs Arnim that that he is almost bankrupt and that his wife has also filed for divorce.  Claudia's boss, Mr Baumann, tells Bülow that the orders to Denzel expired anyway and that Claudia only had access to secret documents through' Meurer, the security official.

During questioning later, 'Meurer dismisses Bülow's suspicion that Claudia was engaged in industrial espionage.

In the meantime, Öllerink has learned from a statement by the Denzels' neighbor that Gaby Denzel was not out of the house for' just 'five minutes as stated, but for about two hours.  Confronted with this, she claims that she saw Claudia with her husband on the night of the crime.

Bülow takes another look at Denzel and has more questions.  Denzel continues to protest his innocence.  Arnim Denzel explains his behavior with panic, but that evening he had noted the car number of a man who had driven away,

Bülow and Öllerink follow' that 'trail and meet, the owner of the car Schlosser, Bülow recognizes' him as 'Claudia's companion from the restaurant, whereupon Schlosser flees by car.

Bülow' adds two and two indicating 'that Schlosser wants to flee to East Berlin and has the border crossing cordoned off without further ado so that Schlosser can be caught and arrested.

While Stegmüller again congratulates Bülow, but Bülow is still convinced that he doesn't have the right murderer.  Bülow seeks out Meurer, Schlosser's testimony and the fingerprints on the iron stake with which he killed Claudia' which 'have convicted him.
Meurer admits' what happened 'with' plenty of 'tears, while Arnim Denzel is' released, 'but ruined economically and privately.  When Bülow visits Arnim again, he finds him hanging.'

I don't know how long it's been since I actually read any of this
'garbage', I've just been marking anything posted by Bruce Bowser as
'Read' and not worried about it.

I probably should have just kill-filed him all those months ago!! ;-P
